Nautilus 3D Screensaver – Explore the Bottom of the Ocean
Review by on
When I hear the name Nautilus I immediately think of the submarine commanded by Captain Nemo in Jules Verne’s novels “Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea” and “The Mysterious Island.” Now I can think about something else when I hear this name – the 3PlaneSoft-developed application Nautilus 3D Screensaver.

This screensaver displays an interesting looking submarine that explores the bottom of the sea. As the submarines travels, it shines its lights onto various items on the bottom of the ocean – like sunken ships and things of the sort. The image is pretty dark, since it tries to replicate the bottom of the ocean, where it is pretty dark. You can clearly make out the submarine and the various items it encounters though.

There aren’t many options to play with in the Settings window of Nautilus 3D Screensaver. The only bits you can play with really are the sound options – disable sounds, disable music, sets the sounds volume or the music volume. It should be mentioned that you can disable the sounds/music while Nautilus 3D Screensaver is running by simply pressing the M key on the keyboard.

Before you get this application and put it to the test, take a look at the technical details presented below:

Download – the download weighs in at 11.2MB.

Installation – at the time of writing this, support is provided for Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit editions). During the installation process you can choose between these languages: English, German, French and Russian.

During the installation process you are asked to install the 3Planesoft Screensaver Manager. This manager provides information about your currently installed 3PlaneSoft screensaver and about other screensaver 3PlaneSoft has to offer. The manager allows you to access the settings of all the 3PlaneSoft screensavers installed on your system. It also comes with a feature to automatically change the screensaver after a specific amount of time, or to display a different screensaver each time the computer goes idle. This manager is quite useful if you have more than one 3PlaneSoft screensaver.

Limitations – a nag screen will appear after 90 seconds when using the trial version. To get rid of this nag screen you have to purchase a license.

Pros
  • Good looking graphics
  • Nice soundtrack
  • Works with Windows 7

Cons
  • Free to try (nag screen)
